Haas School of Business
The Haas School of Business educates innovative business leaders who redefine how we do business.

collateral. To avoid text-heavy, unapproachable communications, we deconstruct the dense statistic-heavy content into an inviting visual language to engage prospective students and alumni donors.
Stanford Diversity Brouchure
Since the University’s founding in 1891, Stanford has been committed to an inclusive approach to higher education.
- description2: We worked with the Diversity Outreach Department to design
tri-fold brochures for the Chicano/Latino, Native American and Black Communities. Using images of students and community activities, we created a spirited campaign to welcome incoming students.
The Quintessential Art School Guidebook
The Association of Independent Colleges of Art and Design approached us with the goal of producing the premier reference book for students seeking the best art education for their needs.
- description2: Our aim was to erase the mystique of a career in the arts by presenting profiles of viable professional paths. We combined pages of alumni and faculty work to represent each college with information graphics to facilitate at-a-glance program comparisons.
RoomToRead.org
Room to Read’s mission is to change the world by educating children. One of our missions is to create a powerful website to help them achieve their goal.
- description2: The key is to engage visitors immediately, entice them to explore and learn, and persuade them to get involved. Using a fun and friendly magazine style, we’re building a site that reflects Room to Read’s innovative, make-it-happen culture. We’ve organized content into impactful messages and crafted information graphics that are particularly well-suited for Web reading. Videos, slide shows, carousels, and calls to action are integrated throughout. The site is currently under construction—stay tuned!

The Branson School
Taking stock of the past and envisioning the future to launch a successful capital campaign.
- description2: When this Marin County preparatory school asked us to create fundraising tools for a significant campus expansion, we juxtaposed the accomplishments of the baby boomer generation with call-to-action challenges that will rest in the hands of today’s youth. We paired the stories with portraits of Branson students, poised to make a difference in their world. The campaign exceeded funding goals—no easy task during a recession. When the new buildings were completed, we designed a follow-up video and print piece to thank donors, using lively composite photos of the new science, art and student center facilities in use. Watch the video.
SCORING THE CREATIVE PROCESS
During the research phase of a project for the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, we were fascinated to see how the musician’s creative process parallels our own.
- description2: To express the educational experience of the conservatory in a language that would be appreciated by aspiring musicians, we developed personal narratives of a student, a faculty member, and the city of San Francisco itself. The stories develop simultaneously, carried on abstract musical staffs. The juxtaposition of the narratives represents musical counterpoint, where independent melodies play contemporaneously to create harmony.
San Francisco Art Institute
What prospective students want from a college viewbook is a sense of the creative environment in which they will be living and learning.
- description2: Melanie Doherty Design teamed up with photographer Todd Hido to document a full semester of student life in the studios, critiques and culturally rich San Francisco. We juxtaposed student and faculty interviews to emphasize SFAI’s commitment to dialog and to preparing students for a life in the global art world. Vibrant photo essays capture the Institute’s vital, experimental spirit.
